10 Irresistible Ideas For Lead Magnets

One of the best ways to get readers to sign up for your newsletters is to use lead magnets. I’ve done this for years to great effect.

The concept is simple. You include a link to your newsletter at the end of the book, and you have some kind of enticing language saying something like “Want a sneak peek into Emily and Joe’s future? Click here to get a scene from their honeymoon.”

This will take them to a newsletter signup page. There, you need to make it clear that they are signing up for your newsletter, but they can unsubscribe at any time.

Once they sign up, you send them the lead magnet.

This has been the most effective way that I’ve found to get people to sign up for my newsletter. And if you’re stumped for ideas for lead magnets, I’ve got you, fam! (My daughter says I have to stop using millenial slang. Ha! She can just yeet herself on out of here.)

Without any further ado, here are your 10 ideas for lead magnetss:

  • A newspaper article about your hero/heroine/characters.
  • A diary entry from one of your characters
  • A scene showing one of your character in high school
  • A honeymoon scene
  • A birthday scene for the characters
  • A Christmas/Easter/holiday scene
  • An interview of the hero or heroine, or both
  • A love letter from the hero or heroine
  • A holiday scene
  • A scene written from the POV of the hero or heroine’s best friend – or mortal enemy!
